The Raisin Poison Saga

Last week Abby snagged some chocolate raisins and enjoyed them a great deal.  However, raisins (and grapes) are poisonous for dogs.  So I ran and got the hydrogen peroxide and gave her a dose.  Most of it landed all over her and me.

Ok, so now what?  Back to Google....Off to Wal-Mart at 3 a.m. for activated charcoal which prevents absorption in the stomach.  I was hoping the police would stop me as I drove and give me a ride to Wal-mart since I was driving pretty crazy.  So where are the cops when you need them??
I get to the store and gave Abby another dose of hydrogen peroxide using the syringe this time so maybe more would get in her stomach.  I carry little ol' her into the store with a blanket to catch any projectile vomiting.  (By the way, who is monitoring the Wal-Mart front door at 3:30 a.m.??)

I'm wandering around crying wondering when my dog is going to die. I finally got three employees to help me search for activated charcoal.  One of them finally found it in pill form.  I rip open the box in the store and break open a capsule....out comes a very fine powder and it is everywhere!  Ok, so that didn't work.  I get another and shove it down her throat and chase it with water which I have yet to pay for.  Some how I manage to pay for my purchase and make it back to to car.  No one said a word about the dog in the store.  Thank goodness.  I drive home and wait.

We try to sleep until 7 when the vet opens.  They told me that since she was still alive there was probably no point in bringing her in.  It seems we have dodged a bullet. Hallelujah!

Welcome to my blog.  My name is Abby and I am a writer.  When I hear my mom back out of the driveway I get busy on the laptop. All day long I answer my reader's letters.  I wanted to name my blog "Dear Abby" but the name was taken.
